What does a call cost while I am abroad?

The same as at home. Your call does not travel through a foreign mobile network; it runs encrypted over data — the Wi-Fi in your hotel, in an office, at a friend's place, or the local data plan in your phone. A roaming charge cannot even arise, because no network operator on the ground carries your call.

There is no location, geo or roaming check anywhere in the system. You sign the app in and make calls — in Hamburg just as in Lisbon or Bangkok. The number shown is built from your number data, not from where you happen to be: people see your German number. It works the same in both directions — anyone calling you from Germany pays for a domestic call, and when you dial a German number from abroad it runs on your domestic flat rate.

What you should know

  • You pay for local data yourself — on Wi-Fi even that does not apply.
  • The Twylo Connect app gets through tight networks. The browser softphone needs an open port and will not run in every hotel Wi-Fi.
  • Outgoing international destinations are unlocked after the identity check, per country and with the per-minute price in the portal.
  • Incoming calls follow your German office hours, whatever your time zone.

Do my text messages reach me abroad?

Yes. Text messages to your German mobile number arrive in the Twylo Connect app — on the same phone that takes your calls. A data connection is all it needs: no German SIM card, no second phone. More of everyday life hangs on this than people expect. Your bank, your insurer, the authorities and the two-factor codes of many accounts send their message to a German mobile number — and nowhere else.

Where do I manage all this?

In one portal. Create extensions, assign numbers, set routing for office hours, after hours and public holidays, generate announcements, set up voice agents, look through calls and invoices — all behind one interface, in the browser, with no technician on site. Changes take effect immediately, even in the middle of the day. The app gets onto your phone with a QR code from the portal. Two exceptions, said plainly: text messages live in the app and not in the portal, and our sales team sets up the WhatsApp inbox for you.

Can I keep my number — or add new ones?

Both. Porting your number costs nothing here, landline or mobile; there is no porting fee. Landline numbers usually take two to four weeks from the signed form, and for mobile numbers we file one application per number. Additional German mobile numbers you book yourself in the portal, from 1.90 € a month. Local landline numbers (from 4.95 € a month) and numbers in 45 further countries (from 9.90 € a month plus 9.90 € once) are set up for you by our support team.

What am I signing up for?

One month. You pay one month in advance and cancel at the end of the current calendar month; contracts running 24 or 60 months do not exist here. No line is installed, no technician turns up, and you neither buy nor rent hardware — the app on the phone you already carry is enough. We charge no setup fee.

How it starts

Three steps to your first call. What you see here is the interface itself.

  1. Order

    Pick a plan, enter your details, send the order. We only ask for what the contract needs.

  2. Pay

    Payment runs on a secured page inside the customer portal. After that the system is live: domestic calls, the app, a German mobile number, incoming calls.

  3. Set up the app

    The portal shows a QR code. Scan it once with the Twylo Connect app and your extension is on your phone.

You can make calls before any of that. We only need an ID document and proof of address for international calling, premium numbers and local landline numbers — within 14 days, in the portal, because numbering law requires it for those numbers.

Announcements from typed text

Type the text, pick a voice, listen, save — under ten seconds and up to 1,000 characters per announcement. Right where the announcement is used: in the voice menu, in the call queue, as hold music. From Business upwards; on Starter you upload your own files.
